Biology exam. I had it today. Because I have 3 days until my next exam I’m taking this evening off… BUT I HAVE NOTHING TO DO! I’m so bored. And there isn’t anything really on tonight. Well Biology wasn’t THAT bad. OF COURSE I found it hard… And I’m pretty sure that I didn’t get excellence for all of my papers. In fact I’m praying for an achieved for gene expression and animal and plant responses. GAR! Those two… but the other two were OKAY. But yeah.
I’ve also asked Docie not to use the internet for anything useless which is pretty much the only thing she uses it for anyway because I want to save the broadband for getting past papers and marking them. SO! If I used it for something like Word Challenge it would make me a complete hypocrite. There’s pretty much NOTHING I can do except study. But I’m going to do that later!
November 16, 2008 – 7:12 am
Exactly this time tomorrow I won’t be doing anything for ANY exam because I’ll be taking a break before my next exam which is Classics on Friday afternoon. I hate afternoon exams, they’re at such as weird time, what the heck am I supposed to do Friday morning?! More importantly I’d rather get it over and done with… AND just thinking about it now, it fully clashes with hockey practice. Well I’ll probably won’t go.
My first exam this year is Biology NCEA Level 3 which I will be sitting starting at 9.30am. I have four papers for it. I think I’m going to do them in this order: DNA in Gene Expression, Plant and Animal Responses, Evolution, Human Evolution. I have a high chances of cocking any one of these up… Especially the first two, which is why I must now part and start going over definitions and functions for 2 hours.
EARLY NIGHT FOR NOVIA TONIGHT!
November 13, 2008 – 10:02 am
So we lost to Starfish today. Suck. But I did just do a plant and animal responses paper and didn’t find it very difficult which is good. I want to go to sleep but at the same time I want to watch a Disney movie. But because I have stats tutorial tomorrow I better go to bed.
Jam, jam, jam.

We had our very last end of year prize giving as a Yr 13 at school last night. It was pretty good because I knew everyone that won an award (nah duh). AND for the first time we had a Proxime Accessit and a Dux… which went to Edbert Wong and Julie Kang respectively, both of them are SOOOOOOOO brainy and are both Chinese-Malaysian (REPRESENT!). I also got All Rounder which is something that I really wanted to get after prizegiving in Yr 11 and I got all inspired to try really hard after Melody won it. Becca made a bet with me to see who could get it in Yr 12. Well, neither of us won it, it went to Kelly and Pippa jointly. But I got it this year and I felt like I’d accomplished a forgotten goal without even thinking about it… which is pretty awesome. AND of course I’m MEGA stoked that I got it…
My thoughts on the high school: My experience of high school has been like eating a really big bowl of cereal. You look at the cereal and go… man, I’m never going to finish this, but you’re really hungry and excited because it’s a type of cereal that you’ve never tried before. At first you have to get into the cereal to be able to truly appreciate the flavour and texture but by the time you do, the bowl is almost empty. While eating this big bowl of cereal you’re surpirsed by the bits of yoghurt covered raisins and the awesome dried cranberries but of course there are the bits in the cereal that make you think about just throwing the last of it away however you realise that you have to finish eating it or you’ll regret it later because you won’t be full. Throughout this time you grow and expand and of course all too soon you wish you had eaten it slower and fully appreciated all of the new textures and flavours that you discovered but sadly you are at the bottom of the bowl with nothing but the soggy dregs of flake at the bottom but have a full and happy stomach as evidence to the once giant bowl of cereal.

Ok, so two posts ago there was one called Tuesday 28 Novemeber.
OBVIOUSLY….
…. this is a mistake because it’s only just turned the 8th of November and the 28th is in fact when I have my final exam and, as pointed out by Vanessa, is her 18th birthday.
So what the hell is wrong with me?!
Well today has been ok. First I voted. This in itself was a hard and scary task because I can’t do anything new/involving people I don’t know without somebody holding my hand. Anyway. I go in (to the PAC) where they were having polling and walk out again because this whole process is completely daunting and there are big queues of people waiting do to something and I’m just completely lost. Genie and Becca told me to go back inside when I told them that I wanted to do it with my parents. ANYWAYS. I ended up voting. End of story.
AND. Today I also almost found my dress for gradutation dinner. AND I still haven’t brought Miss Spurr, my flute teacher, a present yet for 5 years that she’s been teaching me flute. I say that I almost found my dress because I REALLY liked the dress but noone else was too keen on it and to be honest I was afraid one of the teachers would be wearing it to grad dinner which put me off once I thought it.
AND I’m also really annoyed that my parents let me go to Lud’s last night to watch a movie BUT didn’t let me go to PAINTBALL!!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL. I don’t get it. I coud have studied last night as well but they didn’t even think about me studying. I WOULD HAVE RATHER GO TO PAINTBALL!!!!!!!! I’m so annoyed because it was such a hypocritcal decision… they went on about how we only have 2 weeks and that we should be studying and then THEY LET ME GO HANG AND WASTE TIME THAT I COULD BE USING FOR STUDY. I am a teenager and DID want to relax a bit BUT… MY PARENTS ARE SO ANNOYING!
I’m going to go and study Aqueous Solutions for Chemistry now… I WANT A NAP!

Ok. I’ve made this awesome time line for Greek Vase Painting with the different vases on the back of my bedroom door. However! It took me an HOUR to draw and anotate one pot last night—-> Euphronios Calyx Krater (!!!) I did get faster (mainly because I stopped caring about how well I drew them and ended up just drawing their heads because THEIR BODIES WERE COVERED IN DRAPERY—-> STUPID MAKRON SKYPHOS!!!
My goal is that by the end of the weekend I would have FINISHED this AmAzInG timeline. HOWEVER!!!!!! I still have SEVEN pots to draw and anotate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GAR! There are two pots which I’m not even going to care about learning: the Francois vase and the Lydos pot because the first has too many stories and the second is so ugly and the figures don’t even look like they have faces.
I’ve spent barely an hour today doing equations for Statistics. I did the Botany Clean Up today which was nice, not that I won anything, but got to hang out with Lauren <Vote Lauren for student rep>. I’m going off to draw another ugly vase—-> Kleophrades Painter’s Pointed Amphora which is possibly the most ironic given that it is completely pointless as a pot because its point means it needs a stand or it’ll fall over. It reminds me off a deformed child from Hiroshima or Chernobyl. Is that too mean?

Welcome everyone to Tuesday 28th of November 2008.
You know what I can’t believe… the fact that we are in the middle of our second to last FULL week of school. WHAT?! How did that happen??? It was holidays and then all of a sudden !BANG! It’s almost all over.
You know what else is almost here? NCEA exams. I must say that I’ve started studying MUCH earlier this year than previous years. Here is what I have learnt about Classics Vase Painting:
Euphronios painted Calyx Krater which depicts the victory of Herakles over the giant Antaios (side A) in Red-Figure circa 510-500 BCE. The height is 46cm and Calyx Kraters were used in ancient times for mixing wine and water. It is used in modern times to fill mueseums.
General Description: Side A- Shows Herakles defeating Antaios (Libyan giant who was son of Gaia, the earth, from who he got all of his strength. In order to be killed he had to be lifted off the ground and killed in mid-air. This depiction is different from the traditional one.) in a wrestling match.
On the far left of the vase sit Herakle’s trademark lion skin and club. Then there is a supporter of Herakles, she has her hair tied neatly in a sakkos (hair net) and she points to the middle of the scene where Herakles and Antaios fight. Herakles has neat hair and plucked eyebrows this contrasts with Antaios barbaric looking facial hair. Major muscles of both Herakles and Antaios have been outlined using black slip with the subcanteous muscles being outlined using dilute slip. Herakles’ thigh and calve muscles are clenched to show that he is using lots of his strength and the bulging muscles of Antaios show that he is very strong therefore Herakles must be stronger to defeat him. Antaios’ right leg shows foreshortening. We know he is losing because his eyes are upturned, his mouth is open in agony (last breath) and his right arm lies limp on the ground. To add to this Antaios’ supporters who stand behind him are tearing out their hair in greif at his imminent death. Their clothing zigzags to give the illusion of movement and they look much less tidy than Herakles’ supporter, once again adding to the uncivilised nature of the opponents. This is how the Greeks saw themselves (Herakles) and their enemies (Antaios).
The composition fits a ‘w’ shape with the women on either side sloping out, which compliments the shape of the vase, and their arms pointing in to focus attention to the centre. This shows great skill in the composition.
Ok, I have biology stuff I need to do now! BIOZONE, HERE I COME!!!

For those of you that watch our podcast, we are taking a break for exams and holiday. We will be back next year with a brand new season which will be a million times more awesome.
Exams are coming up. That sucks.
Summer hockey last week wasn’t that bad… but we were like so much better than Team Skux… which had players from the Pap High girls team. But we still lost. GAR! Losing didn’t stop us from looking hot though
October 16, 2008 – 4:38 am
Hey guess what guys! I got Most Improved Player for my hockey team last night at hockey prize giving. YAY! I was pretty pleased myself and quite proud that I got an award
Botany Bolts are playing tonight at 7.40pm at Lloyd Elsmore Park. I’m kinda not really almost but maybe looking forward to it… because I don’t know if I really like summer hockey which is played on a tiny itsy bitsy sized turf. It’s kinda like table-football… foosball… and the ball just goes back and forth. In normal hockey it actually takes time for the ball to get to the other end. GAR!

You: That title’s a bit of an overstatement, isn’t it Novia.
Me: Yeah, you’re probably right. Oh well, I’m too lazy to change it now.
So I just watched a video of Carl Barron (…hm is that with a C or a K?) on Rove which will be showing on Friday because chances are I’ll miss it. I love Karl Barron… SO FUNNY! I COULD TOTALLY be watching Big Bang Theory right now. However Mum is engrossed in a Tom Cruise interview with Oprah. There is one thing that I want to watch tonight: Real Life: My Car is My Lover- men who are sexually attracted to cars. You can’t tell me that that doesn’t sound interesting. Mechaphiliacs. WEIRDOS. Personally I think there is something wrong with someone who isn’t sexually attracted to human beings… sometimes there’s also something wrong with them as well. ANYWAY… I’m going to watch it at 9.30pm today one channel 1.
Right now I’m feeling so UNSTIMULATED. I hate this. It’s kind of like being bored sans the frustration. I guess I could watch Flashpoint which starts one channel 2 in about 5 minutes. Or I could sit here and continue talking to you about my average day.
I had work and I feel like I did HEAPS today… There were also times where time went REALLY quickly. Becca fully worked hard out for one GIANT order and completed 45 things of Club to Class orders in 17 and a half minutes! WOW! I fully didn’t think she could do it… but she did. Well done Rebecca! I keep drinking water because my mouth is kinda dry. I’m going to need to piddle REAL bad tonight. I hate getting up in the middle of the night.
Do you know what I also hate? When people think you’re a loser and then they just like act like they don’t think you’re a loser.
